This was a fun wedding! It was held at Klemmer's on Oklahoma, in the main ballroom for about 200 people. I had to set-up in a smaller footprint so I didn't use the lighting truss system. I had the single pole with T-Bars which covered the floor nicely. I really like the new LED par cans! They "wash" the dance floor well and really add to the excitement.
On the way to the gig, I stopped at Guitar Center and bought a new laser/LED light effect. It's by Chauvet and is designed to be used primarily as a ceiling effect. There are 2 lights in one.... a blue LED spread that looks like a misty sky and two lazers (red and green) that have thousands of dots that can be modified by speed and intensity.
EVERYONE who walked in the room was dazzled by this unique effect!
I must say that the bride's mother really took control of the room when it came time for her toast. She was a very eloquent speaker and had the floor for about 15 minutes.
The staff at Klemmer's was awesome as usual and the of the evening went well.
It's sad to think that the wedding season is winding down. I have a few more this month and just booked a public Halloween DJ gig at the Sand Bar in Pewaukee on Oct. 30. Hope to see you there!

Saturday September 18, 2010 Wedding
Had the pleasure of DJ'ing a wedding reception for Vanessa and Scott at the Pulaski Inn on Saturday. I met the bride's mother about a year and a half ago while providing live and DJ music for a company Holiday Party. She was impressed with what I could provide and recommended me to her daughter. The bride and groom both came to see me about a year ago and subsequently booked me for their wedding.
It was a fun event! I set up on an elevated stage area behind the head table and had enough room to utilize my light truss system. Started at 5:00 for cocktails and dinner music then in to dancing. Although the hall could only hold about 200, the crowd came to dance and I kept the floor filled all night long!
Had the added pleasure of seeing a few old friends at the wedding as well. Mark and his lovely wife Anna. Mark works with the bride's mother and they were invited to the reception.
The bride and groom commented several times about how I had ALL AGES up and dancing and showed their appreciation with a generous tip.
Special compliments to the hall and their staff as well. If you're looking for a more traditional venue run by a family that really cares about providing exceptional service and food, consider The Pulaski Inn in Cudahy. Visit them at www.pulaskiinn.com

Did a Friday wedding in Burlington for Jamie and Jim. Had a few calls with them earlier in the week and they were at a loss for the types of music they wanted.
Friday's are usually tough.... people have a hard time taking off of work for the ceremony and tend to leave early at night from being tired. As I looked through their choices, it was clear that they needed guidance.
Well, that's what I do best!
After discussing and explaining their options, they decided to let me "drive the bus" and play the songs that were the best motivators to keep the dance floor filled all night.
I worked in their "must play" songs at the right times and used my experience to create the right mix, flow and excitement that this Friday Night wedding needed! It was a huge success! Even the bar manager commented that this was more like a Saturday wedding!
I don't have a gig tonight and am spending the weekend giving one of my bathrooms a much needed facelift.
One additional comment.... this couple went out of their way to make sure I knew how much they appreciated the music. They were both extremely gracious and I'll be using the tip towards a new vanity at Lowe's! THANK YOU JAMIE & JIM!
P.S. Their photographer was exceptional. I highly recommend Shane Doyle from Wedding Connection Photography www.wedconnectphoto.com

Weekend of 9/4/10
Had a full service DJ wedding gig on Saturday. The bride lost her father and in place of the traditional Father/Daughter dance, she had all 5 of her brothers take turns dancing with her. There was not a dry eye in the house.... and it was a very touching moment.
The hotel (Crowne Plaza - Wauwatosa) staff was extremely helpful and the entire evening went very well.
Sunday, I had a fun gig. The couple were married the day before. They have a house on Golden Lake and were married in a Pontoon Boat Ceremony. The weather was pretty rough, but they were able to find a quiet bay. The next day, Sunday was dedicated for the party. They had catering by Saz's, music by ME and about 75 guests. The rain held off until the last hour, and everyone came in to the tent. This was a "Best of Both" gig and I played live music plus DJ'd.
Event planners, Let's Have an Affair recommended me for the gig and they did an outstanding job running the "show". Check them out at: www.letshaveanaffair.com
